There are a few things you should know before trying to program your own key fob. First, the procedure will differ between different automobile models.

You will also require the Workshop Code and Importer number. The Immobilizer system is usually not affected by a disconnect of the battery, but the Transponder ECU on the Key Fob will need to be reprogrammed using the OBDII port using the appropriate diagnostic tools.
